Ryan Reynolds is remembering a beloved internet creator.
One day after 10-year-old Bella Brave—also known as Isabella Thomson—died, the Deadpool star grieved her loss on social media.
“Bella was so funny and so charming,” Ryan wrote in a July 15 Instagram Story. “I loved meeting her and I’m so deeply sad to hear this news. She had a razor sharp wit and took zero s--t from anyone. Particularly me. Deepest condolences to her family and the staff at @sickkidsvs who cared for her in every way possible.”
Bella’s mom Kyla Thomson opened up about her daughter’s passing on social media July 15, which came days after Bella had been placed into a medically induced coma.
“Bella passed peacefully in our arms,” Kyla wrote in her message. “Please keep her name on your lips, her memories alive and her bravery in your hearts. Please share with us every detail of how she touched your life or kept you brave.”
Ryan’s heartfelt message also comes nearly seven months after he first met Bella during his campaign with Toronto’s The Hospital for Sick Children in December 2023.
Bella—who rose to fame for documenting her battle with Hirschsprung’s disease, which affects the bowel and immune system—proved she was the perfect match for Ryan’s signature sarcasm when he offered her an ugly Christmas sweater as a gift in a TikTok her mom shared of the duo’s interaction.
After Ryan offered her the sweater, Bella quipped back, “I am not dying to wear that.”
Bella also went on to discuss her favorite video games with Ryan—who shares kids James, 9, Ines, 7, Betty, 4, and a fourth baby with Blake Lively—as well as what she had in common with his daughters (they learned they both love LOL dolls).
The 10-year-old also also detailed her medical procedures such as her bowel transplant, an experience she described as “meh.”
“I like that attitude,” Ryan responded. “That’s good.”
Kyla later emphasized how much the moment meant for Bella and their family.
“Thank you for taking the time Ryan,” Kyla wrote on TikTok. “We know how valuable time is and we’ll cherish this core memory forever.”
